Présentation

Kandaka is the name given to the Nubian queens of ancient Sudan from the Meroitic period of the Kingdom of Kush. They fight fiercely for the country and their rights, symbolizing resistance and bravery. This perfectly characterizes the singer Hind who is at the origin of the musical project Hind Kandaka Band» with Thierry, her saxophonist husband, supplemented by musicians Tony on drums, Sébastien on bass, Fitsum on keyboard, Kabaroh on percussion and Raghda on choir.

From childhood Hind sang playing traditional percussion “dalouka” to the rhythms of songs “for women”, relatingthe daily concerns of Sudanese women.

Since then, she has always remained involved during the events that shakent Sudan, on social networks, but also during the demonstrations in his country, then in France from his political asylum.

At the crossroads of Nubian, Oriental and sub-Saharan African music, Hind is today developing his musical project to realize his dream of discovering the richness of his original culture and working for the reunification of the peoples of Sudan.

In festive songs with ancestral rhythms “toum-toum”, “merdoum” or “serra”, lifemix Latin, jazz or reggae flavors in the service of sophisticated melodies of the Sudanese repertoire.

His next album “In the rhythm of peace”will revisit the
rhythmic diversity of Sudan, and will invite, beyond the differences,
to the unity of the peoples of a country still scarred by war.
