HIND KANDAKA BAND

HIND KANDAKA BAND
Born in Sudan, Hind began performing in her home country at the age of 11. To escape the Sudanese dictatorship, she sought refuge in France, where she conveys a message of love and peace through her music.
Together with Thierry Fournet — her husband, saxophonist and arranger — the artistic project explores the folk music of the many ethnic groups that make up Sudan. The addition of refined harmonies to traditional rhythms such as toum-toum, merdoum, serra, and others, highlights the softness and emotional depth of Hind’s nostalgic voice.
Alongside the production of singles that opened the doors of major media outlets in Sudan, Egypt, and Europe, Hind has taken part in numerous cultural events and festivals in France, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, and the United States.
Based in Paris, the project evolved in 2023 towards new sonic explorations and became Hind Kandaka Band, surrounding itself with musicians from the international scene.
